Custom Fields

Extend the standard data model by adding bespoke fields to any object

The Custom Fields module in InvestGlass allows you to extend the standard data model by adding bespoke fields to any object within the platform. This module ensures that InvestGlass can capture and manage the specific data points unique to your business processes and industry requirements.

What Are Custom Fields?

Custom Fields are user-defined data fields that you add to existing objects (Contacts, Accounts, Contracts, etc.) to capture information beyond the standard field set. They support various data types including text, numbers, dates, picklists, checkboxes, and lookup relationships. Custom fields appear alongside standard fields on record pages and can be used in filters, reports, and automations.

How to Access Custom Fields

  1. Log in to your InvestGlass instance. 2. Navigate to the left-hand sidebar menu. 3. Click on Custom Fields to manage field definitions. 4. Alternatively, access through My Account > Company > Custom Fields.

Best Practices

Plan your custom field architecture before implementation. Use consistent naming conventions with clear prefixes or suffixes. Avoid creating redundant fields that duplicate existing data. Regularly audit custom fields to remove unused ones and maintain system performance.
