Automation
Create automated workflows and triggers to streamline business processes
The Automation module in InvestGlass allows you to create powerful automated workflows that trigger actions based on specific events or conditions. This module eliminates manual repetitive tasks and ensures consistent process execution across your organisation.
What Is Automation?
Automation in InvestGlass enables you to define rules that automatically execute actions when certain conditions are met. These can range from simple notifications to complex multi-step workflows involving approvals, data updates, email sending, and task creation.
How to Access Automation
- Log in to your InvestGlass instance.
2. Navigate to the left-hand sidebar menu.
3. Click on Automation to view and manage your workflows.
4. Alternatively, access through My Account > Company > Automation.
Key Features
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Trigger-based Rules | Define events that initiate automated workflows |
| Conditional Logic | Set conditions that must be met before actions execute |
| Multi-step Workflows | Chain multiple actions together in sequence |
| Email Automation | Automatically send emails based on triggers |
| Task Creation | Auto-generate tasks and assign them to team members |
| Field Updates | Automatically update record fields when conditions are met |
| Scheduled Actions | Set time-based triggers for recurring automation |
Creating an Automation Rule
- Navigate to Automation from the sidebar.
2. Click + New Rule to create a new automation.
3. Define the trigger event (e.g., record created, field changed, date reached).
4. Set conditions that must be true for the automation to fire.
5. Configure the actions to perform (send email, create task, update field, etc.).
6. Test the automation with sample data.
7. Activate the rule.
Use Cases
Automation is commonly used for onboarding workflows, compliance reminders, follow-up task creation, portfolio rebalancing alerts, contract renewal notifications, and lead assignment routing.
Best Practices
Start with simple automations and build complexity gradually. Document your automation rules clearly. Test thoroughly before activating in production. Monitor automation logs regularly to ensure rules are firing correctly.
